Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Monday, May 21, 2007, at Senator Nelson's Desk at Austin, Texas.

The Chair called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The Chair laid out House Bill 9 by Representative Crownover and recognized the sponsor, Senator Ellis, to explain the bill. 

 

Senator Janek sent up a committee substitute; the Chair recognized Senator Ellis to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the bill as engrossed. 

 

Senator Janek withdrew the committee substitute.

 

Senator Janek moved that HB 9 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 3 nays, 0 absent and 0 present not voting. 

 

The Chair laid out HB 2524, which had been previously left pending.

 

Senator Uresti moved that HB 2524 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent and 0 present not voting. 

 

 

The Chair laid out HB 3618, which had been previously left pending.

 

Senator Zaffirini moved that HB 3618 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent and 0 present not voting. 

 

The Chair laid out HB 4035, which had been previously left pending.

 

Senator Janek moved that HB 4035 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 2 absent and 0 present not voting. 

 

There being no further business, at 3:07 p.m. the Chair announced that the Committee would stand adjourned.
