Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Friday, May 1, 2009, in E1.714.

Senator Uresti, the acting chair, called the meeting to order at 3:09 p.m. and the following business was transacted:   

 

SB 2150

The chair laid out SB 2150 and recognized the author, Senator Patrick, to explain the bill.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Zaffirini sent up Committee Amendment #1 and recognized Senator Patrick to explain the Amendment.  Senator Uresti moved that SB 2150 and Committee Amendment #1 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

SB 2001

The chair laid out SB 2001 and recognized the author, Senator Van de Putte, to explain the bill.  Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that SB 2001 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

SB 56

The chair laid out SB 56 and recognized the author, Senator Zaffirini, to explain the bill.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that SB 56 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

The chair laid out SB 2406 and recognized the author, Senator Zaffirini, to explain the bill.  Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that SB 2406 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

The chair laid out SB 2177 and recognized Senator Zaffirini, in absence of the author, to explain the bill.  Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti moved that SB 2177 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

The chair laid out SB 2277 and recognized Senator Uresti, in the absence of the author, to explain the bill.  Witnesses registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  Senator Uresti sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Uresti to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed.  The committee substitute was withdrawn. Senator Uresti moved that SB 2277 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

HB 3108

The chair laid out HB 3108 and recognized Senator Zaffirini, in the absence of the author, to explain the bill.  Senator Uresti sent up a committee substitute; the chair recognized Senator Zaffirini to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the house bill as engrossed.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.  The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.  The committee substitute was withdrawn. Senator Uresti moved that HB 3108 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.
