Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Saturday, May 23, 2009, in E1.714.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:13 a.m.  There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: 

 

Local & Uncontested Calendar

The chair laid out the list of bills recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held on May 26, 2009, at 8:00 a.m.

 

The following bills were removed from the list: SB 1342, SB 2238, SCR 72, HB 93, HB 94, HB 431, HB 461, HB 715, HB 750, HB 768, HB 829, HB 1134, HB 1255, HB 1423, HB 1425, HB 1506, HB 1614, HB 1722, HB 1749, HB 1770, HB 1819, HB 1831, HB 1945, HB 2100, HB 2113, HB 2130, HB 2161, HB 2531, HB 2571, HB 2582, HB 2697 and  HB 2724.

 

Senator Hegar, representing himself, testified in on HB 1056. Lara Wendler, representing Senator Whitmire, testified on HB 2385. 

 

At 10:13 a.m. Senator Williams moved that the committee stand recessed awaiting suspension of the rules so that the committee may meet while the Senate is in Session; without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

Pursuant to an announcement on the floor to suspend Senate Rule 11.13, a public hearing on the Senate Committee on Administration was reconvened on Saturday, May 23, 2009, in the E1.714 at 10:18 a.m.

 

The following additional bills were removed from the list: HB 2751, HB 2827, HB 2914, HB 3082, HB 3438, HB 3487, HB 3554, HB 3634, HB 4189, HB 4275, HB 4540 and  HB 4781.

 

Senator Uresti moved that, with the exception of the bills previously listed, the bills on the recommended list be certified for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

There being no further business, at 10:56 a.m. Senator Williams moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
