Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 17, 2023, the House Committee on Elections met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Smith, at 4:06 p.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Smith; Burrows; Capriglione; DeAyala; Manuel; Morales, Eddie; Swanson; and Vo.

A quorum was present.

SB 1070

The chair laid out SB 1070, the companion of HB 2809.

The chair moved that SB 1070, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Ayes:                           Representatives Smith; Burrows; Capriglione; DeAyala; Swanson (5).

Nays:                           Representatives Manuel; Morales, Eddie; Vo (3).

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

Absent:                        Representative Bucy (1).

The chair laid out SB 545, the companion of HB 5259.

The chair moved that SB 545, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Nays:                           None (0).

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

Absent:                        Representative Bucy (1).

At 4:08 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
