Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 10, 2025, and permission granted on May 10, 2025, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on State Affairs met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative King, at 1:04 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives King; Anchía; Darby; Geren; Guillen; Hull; McQueeney; Metcalf; Phelan; Raymond; Thompson; and Turner.

SB 11

 

The chair laid out SB 11 as pending business.

Representative Smithee moved that SB 11, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Nays:                           Representatives Anchía; Thompson; Turner (3).

The chair laid out SB 33 as pending business.

 

Representative Darby moved that SB 33, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Geren moved that SB 34, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
