If a companion bill exists, you can view the companion information. A companion bill is a bill filed in one chamber that is identical or very similar to a bill filed in the opposite chamber.
After you look up a bill, click the Companions tab.
NOTE: If a companion bill does not exist, no Companions tab displays.
From the Companions window, you can:
View the bills designated as companions
Open the companion bill's History window
NOTE: The companion bills are sorted by bill number. Duplicate bills are displayed at the end of the list in bill order.
The following describes information in the Companions window:
Click the bill number link to open the History window for the companion bill.
The Degree of Association displays if the companion bill is designated as identical, very similar, or similar for bills in opposite chambers. A designation of duplicate is used for identical bills in the same chamber.
The most recent information for the Author, Last Action, and Caption displays.
